Was such a lovely hotel and the staff were absolutely exceptional. From the elegant minimalistic hotel entrance to the modern Japanese-style interiors of the reception and our room, the beautiful design and had such a warm and welcoming feel. My family and I stayed here to celebrate my dad's birthday, during our Japan trip back in January this year. This hotel was conveniently located walking distance to konbinis, restaurants, shopping malls, some Kyoto tourist destinations with easy bus accessibility. The staff were extremely accommodating from Day 1, and the hotel manager was very kind and hospitable as well. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay and the facilities, as well as the lovely complimentary breakfast (light pastries & bread buns) and coffee/juice they provided each morning. The accommodation was clean, comfortable, nice amenities and the showers were very cool too. Only gave 9/10 just because the power went out one of the nights during our stay due to the weather, and took a few hours to get back on. Nonetheless, during our whole Osaka/Nagano/Kyoto trip, this hotel was definitely the best stay we had and couldn't recommend more!! On our departure day, the staff at the front desk gave us little Japanese sweet treats to take home, and we gave small souvenirs from Australia as a token of appreciation. Unfortunately, I am unable to find the business card the hotel manager had given us on the last day, but he was very kind and we are grateful to him and the staff for making our stay in Kyoto such a great experience. :)

We stayed in one of the rooms with a river view. The elegant, refined room decor and serene view onto the river, mountains, and many temples was an absolute highlight of my vacation. The hotel staff is very lovely - always available and helpful. The hotel's location is unbeatable - a short walk to the river, shopping, Gion district, and many temples. In fact, the hotel is located next to the street, Matsubara dori, that one would take to walk to Kiyomizu dera (25-30 minutes walk, very pleasant). And, bus number 205 stops almost directly in front of the hotel (opposite side of the street) and will take you to Kinkakuji (Golden Pavilion)(about 45 minutes, but you don't need to change buses, etc.). My tip for a delicious, casual lunch or breakfast is to check out the nearby cafe, Kamee Coffee Kyoto Takatsuji.

This was the best place we stayed at in our whole Japan trip! My favourite thing about this place were the staff - they are so sweet and lovely!!!! We had a lot of questions and they were always so friendly and helpful, even through the language barrier. The room was not huge but that’s pretty standard for Japan. However it did have a king size bed which was great. other than that the rooms were very clean with great heating, and we had housekeeping daily! This was an exceptional stay and would definitely stay again for our next Kyoto trip ⭐️

+ Great location + Amazing staff at front desk especially Watanabe + The staff acknowledged a special occasion with little attentions + Laundry machine is very useful - Complicated A/C control therefore room was always too hot / too cold - We found a used pair of leggings in the room at check-in from a previous guest. - A/C unit filter was full of dust but was cleaned straight away with apologies - I looked under the bed before checking out to not forget anything and I wish I did not : found used earbuds and a lot of dust, again…

The room was spacious and clean and the staff were so nice and polite, even when we accidentally locked our room card in the room. They also offered some complimentary Japanese sweets from Kyoto and the staff explained to me what they are. When we left they gave us some sembe which are Japanese rice crackers which was fun to try. The soundproofing was good because we didn't hear any sounds from the other rooms or from outside in the street while we slept. It was nice to receive a water bottle each day with room cleaning.
